  • There is no need to rest any of the bowlers as they are not on the Test side: Nehra

Former India pacer Ashish Nehra believes that the T20I series win will surely have an impact on the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar trophy, especially the mental aspect of the players.

After losing the ODI series 1-2, the Indian team has turned a corner in the three-match T20I series. The Virat Kohli-led India defeated Australia in the first two games in Canberra and Sydney by 11 runs and six wickets to take an unassailable 2-0 lead.

"Australia were making big totals in the ODI series, so the T20I series win will surely have an impact on the Test series, however, little it might be. Yes, different players are playing this series but it will make a difference to players mentally if not anything," Ashish Nehra said in a video uploaded by Cricbuzz.

Nehra asserted that the T20I series win will impact Indian players mentally if not in any other way. Nehra also pointed out that the focus should be on whitewashing Australia with Manish Pandey coming back into the side.

"There is no need to rest any of the bowlers as they are not on the Test side be it Sundar, Natarajan, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, or Yuzvenvdra Chahal. Except for Manish Pandey, there can be no possible change, perhaps Virat Kohli can take rest himself and Pandey can be picked in place of him with KL Rahul as the captain but nothing else," Nehra added.

India will be buoyed by the fact that they have never lost a T20I match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. After clinching victories in 2016 and 2018, India continued the streak with a 6-wicket win in the 2nd T20I on Sunday at the iconic venue.
