Dulquer Salmaan's Kurup to have a direct OTT release?

The makers of Dulquer Salmaan's upcoming film, Kurup, have initiated discussions with a popular OTT platform to release the film soon.

Looks like Dulquer Salmaan's much-anticipated film, Kurup, is all set to have a direct OTT release. According to reports, the makers of the film have initiated talks with a popular OTT platfom to sell the streaming rights of the film for a whopping amount. The film, directed by Srinath Rajendran, was slated to hit the theatres on Eid. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, the film's release date got postponed.

Now, the makers have decided to release it directly online.

KURUP IS BASED ON REAL-LIFE INCIDENTS

Kurup is based on the life of Sukumara Kurup, one of the most-wanted criminals in Kerala. His name became the talk of the town, after the 1984 murder case, which involved the death of the film representative, Chacko.

While Dulquer plays Kurup's character, Tovino Thomas will be seen playing the role of Chacko in the film.

In May, Dulquer Salmaan, took to Twitter to release a new poster from the film. His look become an instant hit among his fans and was widely shared on the internet.

Dulquer wrote, "Here’s a little surprise for Eid! Another poster from our most ambitious “Kurup”! In an ideal world today the film would have released in theatres all over. But guess we will have to make do with a poster release! (sic)."

Jointly produced by Wayfarer Films and M-Star Entertainments, the film features Sobhita Dhulipala and Manoj Bajpayee in pivotal roles.

DULQUER'S UPCOMING PROJECTS

Meanwhile, Dulquer is also working on a period film set in 1964. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, the film is presented by the iconic Vyjayanthi Movies. He is also waiting to resume the shoot of his upcoming film, Hey Sinamika, with choreographer Brinda.
